SEYMOUR, WI – FFA Week was a busy one for students in the area.
FFA is a national organization for students interested in Ag and Leadership.
Lila Kilsdonk, President of the Seymour FFA says they are strong in numbers and very active.
“We have a lot of members right now, we have 85.”
Kilsdonk says throughout the year, they go to conferences and participate in many events.
Seymour FFA has a few signature events including an animal day where they talk to elementary students about animals, roadside cleanup, a mother’s day flower project and annual work at the small animal barn at the Outagamie County Fair.
Some of the projects that the Seymour FFA participates in are long-lasting.
One example is a food project that the alumni put together to help keep current students eating well.
“They donate it to the school for lunch so that the students are eating healthier meat instead of the stuff that gets sent in.”
Kilsdonk says FFA is something that can hit home to everyone and is something that everyone can embrace.
“You don’t have to live on a farm to appreciate agriculture and if you join FFA you can learn a lot and really learn leadership skills that can help you in the future.
During FFA week at school, students had a milk drinking contest, pie-eating contest and played cornhole games during lunch.
Nine students drove their tractors to school on Friday.
Schools from all over the area had different ways to celebrate FFA Week.
