
Roma A. Verg-Milligan, age 86 of Tigerton passed away Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Maple Lane Health Care Center, Shawano.
The former Roma Ann Redman was born on September 10, 1933 in the Town of Fairbanks, Shawano County, to Louis and Sophia (Beyersdorf) Redman. Roma graduated from Tigerton High School and she worked as a secretary for a short time at FWD Corporation in Clintonville. Then she was united in marriage on June 21, 1952 to Loyd E. Verg at Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline. The couple dairy farmed in the Town of Grant, Shawano County, for a number of years before moving into Tigerton. She was employed as a clerk at Tigerton Red Owl for over 20 years. In 1993 the couple semi-retired and moved to Crandon. Her husband preceded her in death on June 15, 2002.
Roma married again on July 26, 2005 to Wilson Milligan at the Shawano County Courthouse. The couple lived for some years in Shawano, Hatley, and Cecil before he passed away on October 11, 2019.
Roma was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tigerton where she was active with the Ladies Aide and sang in the choir. Her other interests included working in her vegetable and flower gardens, going fishing, and feeding the birds and squirrels. She enjoyed cooking and baking up a storm for family and friends. Roma liked to share morning coffee with friends. She will be remembered most as a kind person who always helped others.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela (Mark) Onesti of Wittenberg and one daughter-in-law, Janell Verg of Caroline. There are four grandchildren; Alexander (Amber) Onesti, Elliot (Brittney) Onesti, Amy (Dana) Dallman, and Sarah (Jon) Knaup. There are nine great grandchildren: Akyrie, Andrew, Brezeis, Orion, Brenna, Elia, Layten, Dakota, and Drake. She is further survived by two sisters, Ila (Leonard) Grunewald of Clintonville and Ruby Pastovic of Appleton; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roma was preceded in death by her first husband Loyd; a son Dennis Verg; her second husband Wilson; and five sisters, Ruth (Arthur) Hille, Ellen (Gus) Keyser, Betty (Walter) Grunewald, Lois (Carl) Maas, and Aretta (Richard) Strong.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 21st at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Sharon Fox-Bogen will officiate and burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Caroline. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
