SEYMOUR, WI – Outagamie County officials have identified the teen killed in a snowmobile crash Wednesday morning as 15-year-old Konor Marks of Black Creek.
Outagamie County Lieutenant Ryan Carpenter says the incident occurred on County VV between Highway 55 and French Road.
“He was wearing a helmet and visibility was clear so we are not aware of any other factors.”
The Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department said the teen was operating a snowmobile on the Oneida Trail system and it’s believed the teen failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the roadway into the path of the SUV.
“There were three occupants in the SUV including a 37-year-old female from Seymour and two children.”
Carpenter says they were all not injured.
Seymour School District Superintendent Laurie Asher says Marks is a Freshman at Seymour High School.
“We have gathered our response teams together and we are working very diligently to make sure we are helping our students and staff for the next coming days and following weeks.”
She says counselors will be available at the school for the remainder of the week.
Asher says it is not uncommon for students to take a snowmobile to school.
“We have quite a few students who do and we have a designated spot for them.”
Carpenter said it was a tough day for many.
“It is very hard to investigate especially when it involves a teenager. Everyone knows everyone in Seymour and even our department members knew family and friends so it is very hard.”
The road was closed for hours so crews could work at the scene.
