Theodore J. “Teddy” Vomastic, age 72 of Shawano, formerly of the Town of Waukechon, found peace on Thursday afternoon, January 9, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Ted was born November 17, 1947, in Shawano, a son of the late Harold and Myra (Berndt) Vomastic. He attended a one room school house, the Riverside School, in the Town of Waukechon with the school’s last 8th grade class. He then attended and graduated from Shawano High School. Ted operated a farm in Lunds before relocating to the family farm in the Town of Waukechon. He later worked at Retail Lumber and CRI/Genex in Shawano until his retirement. On April 21, 1973 he was united in marriage to Kristine Peterson at St. James Lutheran Church.
Ted is a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, and gardening. He also loved being out on his land, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include his five children, Amy (Mark) Schwitzer, Tracie (John) Martin, Sheli (Mike) Klein, Matthew (Megan) Vomastic, and Joshua (Samantha Heinz) Vomastic; his loving grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, Bradly, Erica, Tyler, Gabriel, Zachary, Gavin, Kaleb, Harrison, Miranda, and Mason; and his former wife and dear friend, Kristine Vomastic. Ted is further survived by his siblings, Maureen Shively, Jean (Benjamin) Ziemer, Deborah (Roy) Pleshek, Tim (Lori) Vomastic, and Barb (Steve) Reed; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jon Shively.
A funeral service for Theodore J. Vomastic will be held on Monday evening, January 13, 2020 at 6:00 PM at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Mark Drengler will officiate. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM and continue until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Ted’s name to St. James Lutheran Church.
