TOWN OF DAYTON, WI – The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fatal crash Monday morning on the State Highway 22 and County QQ intersection.
Sheriff officials say a box truck was traveling southbound on State Highway 22 and crossed the center line. The vehicle was struck by a northbound semi-tractor trailer.
The driver of the box truck has been identified as a 58-year-old Gerald T. Maulson of Keshena. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the semi has been identified as an 80-year-old male and was not injured.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupaca Area Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The State Patrol is assisting with reconstruction.
