SHAWANO, WI – Shawano Sheriff’s Department is coming off a busy weekend patrolling the roadways for drivers that have had too much to drink and still getting behind the wheel.
“Just this past weekend, I think we had 12 OWI arrests,” Sheriff Bieber said. “Usually that is what we have in a given month, but we had that over one weekend.”
Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber says that is in part to the fact that it is holiday party time of year and that they had extra deputies on patrol.
“We are in the campaign right now and their were extra officers on working OWI waves.”
Prior to this weekend, Shawano County has made 161 OWI arrests which do not include arrests made by the State Patrol or Shawano Police Department.
The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign runs through New Year’s Day.
