
CAROLINE, WI – Shawano County Sheriff’s Department K9 Rekon helped deputies with an arrest Saturday night.
Sheriff officials were called to locate a stolen vehicle.
Once the vehicle was located, officials determined that the driver may have been intoxicated.
With the help of Onstar, the vehicle was stopped.
“The vehicle came to a stop and our officers made contact with the driver and he was not cooperative.”
Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber said the driver did not corporate when it came to commands of showing his hands and exiting the vehicle.
“When a person is not showing their hands, being belligerent and making suicidal comments, this easily could have been suicide by cop or an officer involved shooting.”
He says the K-9 was called in to help with the arrest and nobody was injured.
“The K-9 took the subject down without injuries to anybody.”
The driver was taken was taken for medical attention and then transferred to the Shawano County Jail.
He is being held on charges of 4th offense OWI along with burglary, bail jumping, resisting and operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.
