CLINTONVILLE, WI – No action was taken by the Clintonville City Council Tuesday regarding the future of their animal pound.
It is a location that police officers have taken stray animals for over 20 years.
The city was asked to consider if it was the best solution financially and for the animals.
The option on the table is to contract services out to Clintonville Veterinary Hospital.
Numbers show that dogs get claimed quickly but cats do not.
The city is proposing fees for pet owners if their pet is picked up and pay for the euthanizing the animal after being held for four days as a last resort.
That option does not sit well with animal lovers.
For now, the pound will stay open.
