
Katherine “Kitty” Jensen, age 76, of Tigerton passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at her home.
The former Katherine Violet Hartshorn was born on November 13, 1943 in Milwaukee to Henry and Dorothy (Shelander) Hartshorn. Kitty grew up in Milwaukee area where she attended high school. She was united in marriage on November 4, 1961 to Louis L. Jensen at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Grant. The couple made their home in Tigerton and were blessed with seven children. Her husband died on March 9, 1981 at a young age from injuries sustained in a logging accident.
Kitty was employed for over 20 years at Marion Plywood mostly as a splicer or dryer, retiring in 2008. After retirement, she continued working as a bartender at Ye Old Saloon in Tigerton and as a caretaker for a few folks around the area. But her proudest task was being a homemaker; raising and taking care of her family. In her early years, Kitty enjoyed sewing and canning. She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Tigerton.
Kitty liked spending time with family and grandkids playing games like UNO, Phase 10, or Farkle. She always enjoyed family get-togethers, completing jig saw puzzles, and going to a movie at the theater in Shawano. Kitty also loved winning at the slot machines or with pull-tab tickets. She could be outspoken and headstrong; but her caring personality often led to helping-out others in need is how she will truly be remembered most.
Survivors include six children: Henry (Virginia) Jensen of Antigo, Patricia (Jim) Hauke of Oak Creek, Katherine (special friend Dave) Susnowski of La Crosse, Thomas Jensen of Tigerton, Barbara Jensen of Clintonville, and Dorothy (Scott) Suehring of Leopolis. There is one son-in-law, Mike Glover of Wittenberg, 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. There is one sister, Virginia Morris of Milwaukee; a half-brother, Melvin Barrick of Milwaukee, and a brother-in-law, Orval (Joyce) Jensen of Pine River. She is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Kitty was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Carolina Glover, a grandson Louis James Jensen, a sister Frances, and a brother Henry.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26th at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Tigerton. Rev. Dean Suehring will officiate and burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Tigerton. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
