On Sunday October 6th, 2019 at approximately 2047 hours the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a vehicle had struck a deer on HWY 22 South of Stratton Lake Rd in the Township of Dayton, Waupaca County, WI. The caller indicated the deer was deceased and there was no lane blockage. Approximately eighteen minutes later the vehicle operator called back to report there were flames originating from under the hood of the vehicle. Deputies from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office along with Waupaca Area Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of the crash.
HWY 22 was shut down for approximately thirty minutes while the fire was extinguished and the vehicle was removed from the side of the roadway.
The operator did not sustain any injuries as a result of the crash.
