A man and woman are in custody after apparently overdosing on heroin with a child in their backseat in the Town of Vienna. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office says a passerby called 9-1-1 Monday afternoon when he a saw couple slumped over inside a running vehicle in a restaurant parking lot. The couple was being treated by paramedics when deputies arrived and arrested following field sobriety tests. Twenty-four-year-old Kenneth Akkerman and 26-year-old Amber Akkerman of Friendship were both charged with possession of heroin. Amber is also accused of O-W-I with a child under 16. Their two-year-old daughter was turned over to Adams County Child Protective Services.
