Sally Jo Stevens, Chairperson of the Shawano Country Tourism Development Fund
Committee, announced a $15,972.40 Tourism Development Grant has been awarded to the Shawano Area
Agricultural Society. The funds will be used for siding, doors and related materials for the Farmer’s
Exhibition Building renovation project at the Shawano County Fairgrounds.
The Farmer’s Exhibition Building has been a fixture on the fairgrounds since 1900. The building’s unique
look, both inside and out, has become an important part of the history of the Shawano County Fair and the
Fairgrounds. The fair has been in existence for well over 100 years and has a current average attendance of
60,000 to 65,000 people from near and far.
“We are pleased to assist the Shawano Area Agricultural Society with funding for the remodeling of this
historic building, said Stevens.” “The Shawano County Fair brings thousands of people each year and is a
huge asset to the entire region.”
