If you are unable to get to the Shawano County Library, the library may be able to come to you! As a Shawano county resident with a library card in good standing, you are eligible for home or organizational delivery.
Every month, library staff compiles between 900 and 1100 items, including children’s books, adult fiction, non-fiction, large print, magazines, YA fiction, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks, into curated crates depending on specifications from the library patron. Then the crates are delivered to over fifty different locations throughout Shawano County by Helen, our delivery library assistant, and Ethel, the library van.
Currently, Ethel delivers to nursing homes, daycares, schools, assisted living facilities, homes of residents unable to visit the library, headstarts, and community centers. Delivery is a free service, although library lending rules still apply.
Shawano County Library’s delivery service allows for all residents to utilize the varied services offered by public libraries by removing barriers such as transportation and mobility that are needed to physically visit a public library.
For more information or to sign up for delivery service, please contact the library at shawanolibrary.org or (715) 526-3829. The Shawano County Library consists of the main library in Shawano, branches in Birnamwood, Bonduel, Mattoon, Tigerton and Wittenberg as well as a county-wide delivery service.
