
Friday night, at approximately 6:17 pm, Menominee Tribal Police responded to an older male appeared to be distraught on Oshkosh road near Keshena Falls. Menominee Tribal Police officer arrived on scene and was approached by several kids stating a male was swimming and appeared to be in distress and asked for help. Several of the kids attempted to help the male but were unsuccessful. The male went under water and did not come back up. At approximately 8:00pm, the body of Chad Caldwell was located in the Wolf River near the walking bridge. Chad’s family has been notified. We send our condolences to Chad’s family.
We want to thank all first responders who helped in bringing closure to Chad’s family. At this time we still recommend that people do not swim in the river as the water is very high and dangerous.
Menominee Tribal Rescue Service, Keshena Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. The Shawano County Dive Team was also immediately dispatched.
High, fast waters and alcohol maybe factors in this incident. At this time there is no indication of foul play or suspicious activity.
