Jach Gets First Win of ’19, While Anvelink and Wilinski Continue to Roll
Shawano,WI,6/8/19—It was a night full of familiar faces in victory lane. Nick Anvelink scored his second
consecutive Late Model feature win of the year and his third win overall at the Historic Half Mile. Jerry
Wilinski has put his early season struggles behind him as he secured his second straight IMCA Modified
feature. Jeremy Christians outdueled Travis VanStraten for his second IMCA Stock Car feature win of the
year. Jason Jach raced to his first IMCA Sport Mod feature win of 2019. While Brad Nelson got win
number two.
Joel Bennett and Joe Reuter raced side by side to start the Late Model feature with Reuter holding the
lead at the start finish line. Nick Anvelink worked inside of Reuter to take the lead on lap three. As
Anvelink led, Reuter and Ron Berna battled for second. Justin Ritchie soon joined the battle for second
and third as well. Just after the midpoint of the race Ritchie got passed Berna and began a side by side
battle with Reuter for second. On lap fourteen Ritchie made the pass on Reuter for second, but Reuter
took to the outside of Ritchie to take the spot back. Anvelink would go on to victory as Reuter and
Ritchie continued to slug it out for second with Reuter securing the spot at the finish. Ritchie would
have to settle for third. Berna and Brett Swedberg rounded out the top five.
Stormin’ Norman Walbruck snagged the lead on lap one of the IMCA Modified feature and would hold
that spot until lap five when Jerry Wilinski charged to the front. Wilinski was in control for the duration
of the race for his second consecutive win. Kevin Feck eventually prevailed in the battled for second
with Brekken Kleinschmidt taking third. Walbruck would finish fourth. Andy Kleczka finished in fifth.
Kurt Olson took the lead at the start of the IMCA Stock Car before giving way to Mike Schmidt on lap
four. Behind Schmidt it was Jeremy Christians, Travis VanStraten, and Trent Nolan moving towards the
front of the field. Schmidt, Christians, and VanStraten went three wide for the lead on lap ten.
Christians eventually eased ahead of the field, but not for long as VanStraten would take the lead on lap
twelve. Christians and VanStraten battled side by side over the next few laps with Christians eventually
gaining the advantage on VanStraten. In the end it was Christians for the win followed by VanStraten,
Nolan, Nate Michonski, and Schmidt.
Rookie Andy Klosterman led the opening lap of the IMCA Sport Mod feature before Jason Jach took over
on lap two with an outside pass. Jach would remain committed to the outside groove of the track for
the duration of the race and would not be denied his first win of the year. Teagan Wudstrack advanced
nine positions to take second. Kevin Bethke, Jordan Bartz, and Bryce Clements completed the top five.
In Mighty Four action Grant Kastning took the lead at the start as numerous rows of cars battled three
wide for position. Brad Nelson prevailed in a three wide battle to take the lead on the third lap. At the
end it was Nelson for the win chased to the finish by Brad Wedde, Jason Cornelius, Jason Stueck, and
Lucas Hacker.
