
Grace Mae Tetting, age 98 of Shawano, passed away on Sunday morning, June 2, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Shawano at Evergreen.
Grace was born May 28, 1921 in White Lake, Wisconsin to the late Albert and Effie (Moesch) Spohn. She attended school in Shawano, graduating from Shawano High School. On July 7, 1939 she was united in marriage to Willard Tetting in Shawano. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1988. Grace held various jobs over the years, including cooking at the hospital and driving the city cab. Grace also did some waitressing, joking she was never broke with change in her pocket. She was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the AmVets Auxiliary and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Grace had love for family and was truly a people person. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and trout fishing, and loved to bowl. After losing her eye sight at the age of 81, Grace continued bowling and was inducted into the Hall of Fame. WTMJ of Milwaukee did a phone interview with her. She was an excellent seamstress, and sewed for a dance studio. Grace truly loved life.
Survivors include her children, Joan Beaumier and Dan (Margie) Tetting, both of Shawano, Jeff (Linda) Tetting of New London, Doug Tetting, Nathan Ihrcke, and Michael (Kim) Ihrcke, all of Shawano; her grandchildren, Steven Ziemer, Glenn (Sue) Ziemer, Kip (Renee) Ziemer, Dave Tetting, Danette (Mike) Locke, Weston Tetting, and Hannah (Paul) Schmidt; 27 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Tom (Ann) Spohn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her daughter, Barbara Ihrcke; her granddaughter, Kristen Tetting; her son-in-law, Dominic Beaumier; her brother, Alvin Spohn; and her sisters, Arlean Soyck and Rose Maltbey.
Funeral services for Grace Mae Tetting will be held on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Wolf Parson will officiate. Interment will be held at Lake Drive Cemetery, Town of Wescott. Visitation will begin at 9:00 at the church and continue until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred to the Wisconsin Lions Eye Bank in Grace’s name.
