Chas was born May 24, 1929 in the Town of Richmond, a son of Albert and Anna (Sperberg) Buettner. He attended the Forest School and later Shawano High School, graduating in 1947. Chas was a dairy farmer his entire career, and also worked at 21st Century Genetics in the evening for over ten years. On June 29, 1957 he was united in marriage to Eilene G. Krueger at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church in the Town of Richmond. The couple lived in the Town of Richmond their entire marriage. Chas was a good and faithful member of Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano. He was the organist for 25 years at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church and for 41 years at Divine Savior. His hobbies included wood working, gardening, landscaping, and playing his accordion. Chas enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eilene of the Town of Richmond; his four children, Amy Casetta of Shawano, Sally (Roger Bacon) Wouters of Massachusetts; Jonathon (Kim Becker) of Shawano, and Brent Buettner of Shawano; ten grandchildren, Holly (Mike) Weatherwax, Jessy (Brandon) Clark, Andrew (Gina) Damveld, Lisa (Ryan) Engels, Steven (Ashley) Damveld, Stacie (Jordan) Robbins, Kiera (Tom) Gutenberg, Logan Wouters, Jared Wouters, and Kayla (Andrew) Buettner-Meneau; and nine great-grandchildren, Elliot, Cooper, and Reegan Clark, Danny, Maria, Gracie, and Halie Damveld, and Evelyn, and Everett Engels. He was preceded in death by one daughter, LuAnn Buettner in 1966; six brothers, and seven sisters.
Funeral services for Chas Buettner will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Divine Savior Lutheran Church in Shawano. Pastor Wolf Parsons will officiate. Interment will be in St. Jakobi Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Richmond. Visitation will begin at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorial in his name to the Endowment Fund at Divine Savior Lutheran Church.
