A 31-year-old Shawano man tells authorities he was conducting his own investigation of a former girlfriend. Joe Mullin-Romo says that’s why there were three small bags of meth in the backpack he accidentally left behind at the Shawano Library. Mullin-Romo has been charged with drug possession. Shawano Police Chief Dan Mauel says finding drugs is common for his department, but it’s rare that people show up to claim them later. Mullin-Romo says he thinks his former girlfriend committed a homicide — and he says the drugs were hers.
