Brown County investigators say a two-year-old boy could have been killed if the angle of a bullet had been only slightly different. The child had gotten hold of a gun and shot himself in the leg. The slug went through his leg near the knee and grazed his chest, but he won’t need surgery. Authorities say he is “extremely fortunate” the accident in Bellevue didn’t turn out much worse — even fatal. The gun was legally purchased and owned and a decision on criminal charges hasn’t been made yet.
