
Roscoe Q. Much, age 87, of Tigerton passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Shawano Health Services.
Roscoe Quinn Much was born on October 14, 1931 in Appleton to Edwin and Bernice (Mills) Much. He grew up on the family dairy farm in the Town of Greenville, Outagamie County. At the age of 10 his family settled in Tigerton and he graduated from Tigerton High School in 1949. Roscoe entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, from 1952 – 1954.
He was united in marriage on October 8, 1960 to Elaine L. Winter at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Symco. The couple moved to Oak Park, Illinois, where he worked for several years at GM Distribution Center in Chicago. In 1963 Roscoe and Elaine returned to the Tigerton area. In 1964 he started working in the machine shop at FWD Corporation in Clintonville. After 32 years Roscoe retired from Seagrave Fire Apparatus in 1996.
Roscoe always enjoyed being outdoors and cutting firewood. In his early days, he helped his father and brother cut and clear brush for the Town of Germania, Shawano County. He often liked watching old sitcoms and listening to polka music. Roscoe’s personality could be bullheaded and stubborn at times; but this extra determination always got the job done.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elaine; and one son, Kevin Much of Tigerton. There is one brother, Merlin (Ruth) Much of Tigerton; a niece, Sharla (Michael) Frank of Hartford; and a nephew, Shawn Much of Tigerton. He is further survived by other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Roscoe is preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Bernice; his step mother Genevia Doehling; an infant daughter Angel; sisters-in-law Jeanette Snyder and Violet Bezokas; and brothers-in-law Adrian, Ed, Howard, Victor Winter.
Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 AM at Union Cemetery, Tigerton, with Rev. Clifford Kessen officiating. Military Honors will be provided at the cemetery by members of the American Legion Post #239, Tigerton. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Tigerton, is assisting the family.
