James M. Wickersheim, age 71, of Tigerton passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at his home.
James Marvin Wickersheim was born to Marvin and Erna (Kernen) Wickersheim on November 13, 1947 in Shawano. His family lived in Tigerton until 1950 when they moved to Milwaukee. Jim graduated from West Allis Central High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1966 to 1969 in Vietnam. After the military, Jim worked at Allis-Chalmers in West Allis for 20 years. In the mid 1980’s Jim returned to Tigerton and was employed for at Marion Body Works and at the Waupaca Foundry.
Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and trout fishing. He never passed up the chance to go fishing around the area or trips with friends out on the bay of Green Bay. For many years Jim tapped the maple trees on his property collecting sap and making syrup. More recently he enjoyed making homemade wine. He was very generous and often gave away maple syrup or a smoked fish to a neighbor or a friend. Jim will also be remembered as a handyman who could fix just about anything.
Survivors include his mother, Erna; a sister, Joan Pretschold; a daughter, Lindsay Wickersheim; and two grandsons, Aiden and Jacob; all of West Allis. He is further survived by his girlfriend, Cindy Hayman of Galloway; many other relatives, close friends, and special neighbors. Jim is preceded in death by his grandmother Lena Kernen, his father Marvin, and a brother-in-law Ernie Pretschold.
