The Wisconsin Supreme Court says a firearms website is not responsible for a mass shooting in Brookfield six years ago. Radcliffe Haughton bought the gun he used in the spa shooting illegally on armslist-dot-com. He killed his wife, two co-workers and wounded four others before taking his own life. The state’s high court ruled 5-1 today (Tuesday) that the website can’t be sued over the shooting. The majority said federal law protects website operators from liability arising from their sites’ design and functions. The ruling reverses a state appeals court finding that federal law only grants website operators immunity from lawsuits challenging site content provided by others.
