A Kaukauna hotel has avoided a forced shutdown by paying 23-thousand dollars in room taxes. An Outagamie County judge had signed an order which would have closed the doors at the Days Inn and Suites. Kaukauna city officials say the owners paid almost 13-thousand dollars Tuesday and the final 10-thousand-254 dollars Thursday. The hotel room tax funds local tourism projects like the 32-million dollar Fox Cities Exhibition Center in Appleton.
