On Thursday, April 4, 2019, at 12:35 pm, a 2013 Dodge Avenger was traveling north on County Highway U when it failed to yield the right-of-way to westbound traffic on State Highway 29. A 2016 Freightliner semi unit struck the passenger side of the Dodge, and both vehicles came to rest in the north ditch west of the intersection. The 46-year old female operator of the Dodge died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The 59-year old male operator of the Freightliner was not injured in the crash. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting the crash investigation, post crash commercial motor vehicle inspection, and crash reconstruction.
