Leadership Shawano County Class 19 has collaborated with United Way of Shawano to increase volunteering awareness. The website (www.unitedshawano.org), is a new database that will hold information and profiles about volunteering with the Shawano area businesses, organizations and non-profits. “This new database will be a great benefit for businesses, organizations and non-profits to list their services they provide to the public, volunteer opportunities, as well as,making it easier for our community members to find their passion in volunteering,” said Barb Mendoza, executive director, The F.R.E.S.H. Project. It’s easy for businesses, organizations and non-profits to list their volunteer opportunities on https://unitedshawano.org/. For a small fee, the link allows them to provide their volunteer opportunities, making it easy for the volunteer to search and request more information. For people looking to volunteering, the new site allows the volunteer to read the profiles of the organizations for volunteer opportunities. “We have heard from many people that they would love to volunteer but don’t know where to go or know what to do,” said Mendoza. “People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them.”
