Republican lawmakers are moving to block a Dane County judge’s order halting enforcement of the so-called lame-duck laws. Attorneys for the Wisconsin G-O-P filed a motion today (Friday) in an attempt to stop the ruling on the December laws that limit the powers of the governor and attorney general. Republicans claim in the request that Judge Richard Niess’ ruling was “indefensible” and “causing serious harm” to the state. They asked the court to immediately issue a temporary injunction allowing enforcement of the GOP-backed laws to resume. Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald wants the authority to use taxpayer-funded money to pay attorney fees.
