A New London woman and her three children escaped from their burning house last night. The New London Fire Department responded to a call on South Mill Street at 9:48 Thursday evening. The fire started in the kitchen when some grease caught on fire. The fire was contained to the kitchen but other areas of the house received extensive damage. The police contacted Red Cross and were able to get a place for the family to stay at a local hotel.
