Former Governor Scott Walker has been tapped to campaign for a balanced budget amendment. The Center for State-Led National Debt Solutions announced Monday that the Republican will serve as National Honorary Chair. That puts Walker at the center of efforts to call for a Constitutional Convention to adopt such an amendment. In 2017 Wisconsin became the 28th state to request that. A total of two-thirds of states, or 34, must request that before any convention can happen. Any proposed amendments would then need to be approved by three-fourths of the states.
