Eleven properties have been taken by Oconto County for back taxes, totaling $9,843. The parcels were among a group that normally would have been taken last September, but it was discovered that the legal notices were incorrectly published. A new set of ads had to be republished for three consecutive weeks in October, While a few of the owners paid the 2013 taxes owed by the new due date of Jan. 31, 10 did not and one person owned two parcels. The board authorized the County Clerk to sign the tax deeds over and put the properties in Oconto County’s name. The parcels will be listed in an upcoming county land sale.
