Reinhold J. “Ron” Schultz, age 92 of Shawano, peacefully went to meet his Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning, February 12, 2019.
Ron was born September 17, 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a son of the late Arnold and Elizabeth (Geissler) Schultz. He entered the United States Air Force in 1945. On September 6, 1947, Ron was united in marriage to the former Delores Koenigs in Milwaukee. Ron’s military duty took the couple to Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, and California. He served in active duty until 1966, when he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant, working as the Supervisor of Radar Gun Systems. Following his retirement from the service, the couple lived in Allenton and Elderon before moving to Antigo. While in Antigo, Ron taught for 15 years at the North Central Technical College. He retired in 1985, and the family moved to Shawano in 1997. Delores preceded him in death on December 12, 2017.
Ron is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano, and a former member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Antigo. He was a proud member of the United States Air Force Sergeant’s Association for 70 years, the Shawano American Legion Post #117, and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, photography, and bird watching.
Survivors include his children, Linda Lane of Menasha, Margaret (Thomas) Thornton of Shawano, Lisa Schultz of Clintonville, Laura (William) Hickman of Rehoboth, DE, and Alan (Diane) Schultz of Shawano; ten grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul Schultz; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; his daughter and son-in-law, Bette and Donald Voeks; his brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Donna Schultz; sons-in-law, Larry Lane and Jerome Rathbone; and his sister-in-law, Carol Schultz.
Private family services for Ron will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Fr. Tom Farrell will officiate. Private family entombment will take place at Queen of Peace Mausoleum in Antigo. Full Military Honors will be conducted at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family has requested memorials in the name of Ron Schultz to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
