An 85 year old, seven foot, 171 pound sturgeon was an early victim in the 2019 sturgeon spearing season, and may turn out as a candidate for the biggest sturgeon caught this year. It is larger than last year’s catch for the entire season, and exceeds last year’s record breaker by 16 pounds. Jon Eiden, age 34, speared the huge fish just east of Van Dyne on the southwest corner of Lake Winnebago. There are fourteen days left in the 2019 season.
