New London Native and poet Kathleen Heideman is one of five nominees for the honorary position of the U.P. Poet Laureate of Upper Michigan. According to the award’s criteria the nominated author needs to demonstrate a strong connection to the U.P. and express their willingness to promote an appreciation of poetry and the region during their tenure. Online voting is going on right now and you can go to the Sault Ste. Marie Evening news web site and vote until February 9th. This is Heideman’s third nomination for the award.
