On Tuesday November 27, 2018 a hit and run crash was reported to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Porter Rd., near the intersection with Valley Rd., in the Town of Waukechon. A 69-year-old Shawano man reported that he and his wife were in that area searching for a domesticated kangaroo that had gone missing from its residence some days earlier. The reporting party stated that they spotted the animal near that location and were trying to coax the animal close enough to secure it. It was reported that at that time a late model truck (unknown color) was traveling eastbound on Porter Rd. The reporting party indicated that he tried to get the operator’s attention by waving his arms. It was reported that the truck passed the complainants location with the driver’s side mirror striking him in the chest and the tires coming in contact with his left foot. The kangaroo was struck and killed. The complainant reported that the driver of the “Run” vehicle stopped a short distance down the road and exited the vehicle saying, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry”. The suspect then left the scene, and is described as a female in her mid-20’s, 5’ 5” to 5’ 7”; with glasses and shoulder length hair. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office.
