Officials with the State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) say they are trying to get a better idea of the prevalence of chronic wasting disease in Wisconsin and more and more hunters around the state are helping out the agency. Officials say thousands of hunters who bagged a deer during the nine-day gun season are having their animals tested for C-W-D. Deer samples go to the state’s processing center in Black Earth where they are prepared and submitted to the National Wildlife Health Lab in Madison. The D-N-R says it should have no problem reaching its goal of 15-thousand statewide samples.
