Clement Arthur Shauger was born on January 26, 1941 at Clintonville Hospital to Byron “Vurr” and Vesta (Laib) Shauger. He grew up in the Marion area and graduated from Marion High School in 1959. Clem entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Alaska from 1959-1962. He was a heavy equipment operator in the military running mostly bulldozer or grader. Clem returned home to the Town of Dupont, Waupaca County, to the family homestead to continue dairy farming. He was united in marriage on May 2, 1965 to Nancy M. Wegner at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Town of Dupont. Over the years Clem often helped others by openly sharing his successful farming practices with them. He enjoyed welding, fabricating, and inventing his own solutions to problems. His wife of 52 years preceded him in death on July 22, 2017.
Clem served on the Marion School Board for a number of years. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Marion. Clem enjoyed ice fishing and deer hunting. He will be remembered most for his wonderful sense of humor and as a hard working lifelong farmer.
Survivors include three children, Todd Shauger of Neenah, Larry Shauger of Clintonville, and Jessica (Mick) Beechy of Marion. There are six grandchildren, Rebecca Shauger; Brady, Layton, and Lucas Shauger; and Branden and Brittany Beechy. He is further survived by one brother, Jack Shauger of Marion; many other relatives and friends. Clem is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Nancy, one sister Margaret Shauger, and three brothers Clifford, Harold, and Ken Shauger.
A Gathering for Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, November 24th from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Military Honors will be provided at the funeral home by members of the VFW Post 664, American Legion Post 63, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 63, all of Clintonville. Following the gun salute everyone is invited to stay to share in food and fellowship. Per Clem’s wishes, the family requests visitors wear casual dress or even hunting apparel.
