The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is setting aside of rule for harvested deer just three weeks before the bow hunting season starts. The rule would have forced hunters to leave any deer they killed in the county where it was killed unless it was taken to a licensed processor or taxidermist. The D-N-R is collecting deer heads again this year as it continues to deal with chronic wasting disease. The state still wants hunters to voluntarily submit a sample from harvested deer for testing.
