An infant boy was injured in a fire early Thursday afternoon at an apartment building in Menasha. Assistant Chief Vernon Green of Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue said in a press briefing at the scene that the child was not breathing when he was removed from the building. A police officer and firefighter rescued the baby.
CPR was administered to the baby, who was transported to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah. A report on his condition was not immediately available.
The age of the boy was not released but fire officials described him as an infant.
Green said it was his understanding that a man and two other children got out of the apartment, and rescue personnel got the infant out. He said exactly what happened is part of the investigation.
