There will be no Milwaukee Holiday Parade in 2018 — for the first time in 91 years. The DeGrace family has been managing the annual event since 1953. It says a lack of financial support, vendor changes, and downtown construction projects led to the decision to call it off. The family is hoping someone will step forward to manage the parade. Bon-Ton Stores, Incorporated, had been the main financial supporter, but the company declared bankruptcy. The parade which has been held the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving has served as a kickoff for the holiday season. The annual cost was about 150-thousand dollars.
