– A woman driving through Omro got the slithering surprise of her life Wednesday evening. She noticed her SUV was running weirdly, so she pulled over, opened the car’s hood and found a python curled against the engine, Omro police said. Police tried to take the snake out, but it was strong. They had to call a snake specialist from Menasha to remove it. “The reluctant reptile is alive and well, just tired and scared,” reads a Facebook post from the police department. The snake is a Ball python, a popular breed to have as a pet, according to Reptiles Magazine. Native to Africa, the snakes like warm areas. They are known to be shy and friendly. Commenters on the Facebook post, which had more than 1,200 shares Friday morning, said the warm engine was probably what drew the snake to snuggle underneath the car hood. And the reason the car wasn’t running well? The 4-foot-long snake had kicked off the serpentine belt in its slithering.
