Wisconsin dairy farmers say tariff battles are only compounding problems they’ve already been having. Almost 90 percent of the dairy products produced in this state are exported. Framers say they are struggling to show a profit while wholesale prices for dairy products have already started to fall. Wisconsin produced more than 30 billion pounds of milk last year, but it is losing an average of 50 dairy farms each month. About 500 closed last year and the volatile market is pushing dairy farmers out at an escalating rate.
