A $1,000 signature bond is set for a New London man facing felony charges of Battery or Threat to Judge, Prosecutor or Law Enforcement and Attempt Escape a Criminal Arrest. Twenty-five year old Brent D. Gergersen made his initial appearance in Waupaca County Circuit Court on Friday. According to the criminal complaint, New London police officers responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the City of New London on Thursday. An officer found Gregersen hiding behind the door of a bedroom. When the officer asked Gergersen to turn around and show his hands, Gregersen did not cooperate and began fighting with the officer. After being taken into custody at the New London Police Department Gregersen removed ceiling tiles and tried to get on a shelf in the interview room. During transport, Gregersen tried to unbuckle his seat and remove restraints. Once in jail, he attempted to open the holding cell door/lock. If convicted he could face up to six years in prison. Gregersen is due back in court on July 10th.
