In Waupaca County current county sheriff Brad Hardel announced he will not be seeking re-election and will retire at the end of the year. Hardel stated in an email that the decision was made with the declining health of his parents and some health issues with himself. He informed the office Monday of his decision. Hardel started working for Waupaca County as a corrections and dispatch officer in 1988. His name will still appear on the August 14th primary ballot, if he wins he’ll move to the November election. He can turn down the position and the Governor will appoint his replacement.
