A group of Vietnam veterans from northeast Wisconsin will get a chance early next year to return to the country they fought five decades ago. Old Glory Honor flight began accepting applications this week for the free two week trip to Vietnam, which is expected to happen in late February and early March. Anyone from northeast Wisconsin who served in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand between Feb. 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975 can apply. Only 50 veterans will be selected later this year through the drawing. The idea for the trip to Vietnam arose after Old Glory Honor Flight brought a group of veterans back to Pearl Harbor in 2012. The organization is trying to raise at least $150,000 for the 2019 trip.
