Harvey Arthur Ebelt, age 66, of Shawano passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 in Shawano. Harvey was born in Shawano on August 14, 1951, the son of the late Lester Ebelt and Glory Ann (Eckert) Marotz. In 1969 Harvey graduated from Shawano High School. On October 7, 1972, he was united in marriage to Eileen Ann Wilk in Appleton. He worked at Little Rapids Corp for more than 40 years before retiring in 2014. Harvey was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano as well as the Wolf River Carvers, Lunds Snowbirds, Shawano Gun Club and Jerusalem Cemetery Auxiliary. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. Harvey was an old car enthusiast and enjoyed watching the local stock car races as well as NASCAR. In his free time he enjoyed watching the birds, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and was a fan of Shawano All Star Bowling. Snowmobiling, trail riding and shooting the bull with the guys were also some of Harvey’s favorite past times. Harvey’s family was always the most important part of his life and he loved watching his grandson, Owen, grow-up. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed.
Harvey is survived by: his loving wife, Eileen; their son, Michael (Becky Vanden Heuvel) Ebelt of Neenah; one grandson, Owen; his brother, Robert (Nancy) Ebelt of Marion; sister, Tammy Marotz of Shawano; nephew, Brad (Gretchen) Ebelt of Pulaski; niece, Ann (Marty) VandeHei of Pulaski; great-nephews, Joshua Ebelt, Nicholas Ebelt, Braden Ebelt, Reed VandeHei; as well as numerous extended family, friends and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by: his dad and step-mom, Lester and Shirley Ebelt; his mom and step-dad, Glory Ann and Michael Marotz; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Myrtle (Sieg) Wilk; brothers-in-law, Loyal (Ruby Warning) Wilk and Darreld Wilk; and sister-in-law, Ruby Wilk.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Shawano with Rev. Scott Ludford officiating. Burial will be in Jerusalem Cemetery in Lunds. Visitation will be held at Swedberg Funeral Home on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm and again on Monday at the church from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
