Area Sheriff’s Offices are warning the public about a phone scam currently going on around the area. The Brown County Public Communications Center said they received two calls Tuesday where the caller would identify himself as a Lieutenant or Sergeant with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. In one case the caller said that because of a failure to appear for Jury Duty, money was owed. This money was to be paid by purchased gift cards. The sheriff’s office said they will never ask for gift cards as payment, and upon request you should hang up and report the call.
