A Shawano man has been charged with three felony counts of strangulation and suffocation as a result of an alleged domestic incident that occurred in the city last month. Jesse M. Martin, 35, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine on each of the three counts if found guilty. He is accused of using an electrical cord and a leather belt to choke a woman three times during the altercation, causing her to lose consciousness on one occasion. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic abuse-related battery. Martin was ordered held on a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on the charges on May 10.
