An Oconto man is serving a 90-day jail sentence for running away from a crash he caused. Michael J. Smith, 27, was given the jail time as a condition of 18 months probation granted by Judge Jay N. Conley. The crash occurred at the north junction of Highway 32 and Highway 64 in the town of Riverview about 6:30 p.m. Smith was charged with hit-and-run-injury, a felony with a maximum nine-month jail sentence, along with reckless driving causing injury and obstructing an officer. He pleaded no contest to hit-and-run of an attended vehicle, a misdemeanor with a maximum six-month sentence, and to the reckless driving charge, which carries a maximum sentence of one year. The obstructing charged was considered by Conley at sentencing and dismissed.
