The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has announced they will attempt to slow the spread of the tree-killing emerald ash borer, the entire state will be under quarantine for the pest as of Friday, As this state quarantine action affects Menominee County but not the exterior boundaries of the Menominee Reservation, the tribe will consider its own external quarantine order for its lands. Menominee Tribal Chairman Douglas Cox says the Emerald ash borer, or EAB, is not on Menominee Reservation and the tribe will need to enact plans and regulations to make sure it does not move onto our tribal lands as a result of this state action.
