Shawano Police will have extra patrols around schools on today while they investigate a threatening note about a school shooting. The Shawano School District says the note reads, “I am going to shoot up the school,” but it doesn’t mention a date or what school. It’s also not clear when the note was written. It was discovered by a person while moving picnic tables under a shelter in Memorial Park. Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber said the message was written on the table with black marker, and there were other writings and sayings in the area by the same person. He said county sheriff’s officers will join city police in patrolling school zones. Bieber said threats like these are a common problem after high-profile incidents like school shootings.
