Bertha M. Sutter, age 91 of Shawano, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Shawano.
Bertha was born July 12, 1926 in Springfield, Illinois, a daughter of the late Joseph and Flora (Wells) Teer. Bertha was united in marriage to Clifford Sutter at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on November 19, 1955. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1992. Bertha was a good and faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano.
Faith and family were her passions. If you dropped by Bertha’s house, you may have found her sitting in her garage waving to her neighbors, or in her house praying the rosary, or making her world famous mac & cheese for her grandchildren. In any instance, you would have been lovingly welcomed into her home. Her favorite moments were with her family, whether it was her immediate family or her siblings’ families when she visited Springfield for family reunions. She loved them all.
Survivors include her children, Carl (Liz) Sutter of Grand Chute, Theresa (Pat) Reiter of DePere, and Mary Sutter of Shawano; six grandchildren, Rachel (Joel) Adler, Kate Sutter, Matt Diny, Ellen Diny, Dylan Sutter-Balke, and Hannah Sutter-Balke; three great-grandchildren, Ben Adler, Noah Adler, and Jacob Adler; her sister, Marge Davis, and her brother, Joseph Teer; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford; her sister, Mary, and her brother, John.
A memorial celebration of Bertha’s life will take place on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Fr. Tom Farrell will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are preferred in Bertha’s name to the Sacred Heart School Library in Shawano, or the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in St. Louis, MO.
